Delegation appraises forum on Zim political, economic progress

yesterday that many were still ignorant of the progress made by Zimbabwe in this regard.
The global media was still fraught with negative perception on this country, a situation that compromised Zimbabwe’s ability to attract fresh capital.

Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara, who is heading the delegation, said the international stage was still flooded with negative information about Zimbabwe, contrary to what was obtaining on the ground.
Deliberations in some interactive sessions also revealed lack of correct information on the status quo.

Therefore, the Forum which began here yesterday, presented a golden opportunity for Zimbabwe, which has experienced positive economic growth in three successive years, to market its opportunities and lure partners in development.
“This is an opportunity to showcase our country and the opportunities and possibilities we have so that we can partner with other governments, investors and other partners. We are here to tell the Zimbabwean story to key decision makers,” said DPM Mutambara.

“The CEOs of big banks are here, big corporates are here . . . It is also an ideas place. It’s an opportunity to expand into other countries as well. Zimbabwe is not just a destination for investment, its a source of products as well.”
The WEF platform brings together governments, multinational companies, civil society, media, the academia and other development partners. The Zimbabwean delegation comprises Finance Minister Tendai Biti, Economic Development and Investment promotion minister Tapiwa Mashakada, his permanent secretary Dr Desire

Sibanda, the DPM’s permanent secretary Paul Mavima and other Government officials.
The private sector is represented by Dairibord chief executive Anthony Mandiwanza, Kingdom Bank’s Nigel Chanakira and Ken Sharpe, among others.
