Delta Beverages driver loses $1 000 to lone armed robber

A DELTA Beverages truck driver lost company cash amounting to $1 000 when a lone armed robber wearing a mask pounced on him in Zhombe area, police said.Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the incident occurred at night at Hove Business Centre.
He said the victim, Mr Perfect Zulu was conducting deliveries in the area when the robber pounced on him.

“Zulu was in the truck just after making deliveries at Hove Business Centre, when a lone suspected robber who was putting on a mask knocked at the passenger’s seat. The suspect who was armed with a pistol then demanded cash from Zulu,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said Zulu surrendered the $1 000 cash which he had.
“The suspect then disappeared with the money and the matter was reported to the police who attended to the scene,” he said.
Insp Mahoko said investigations into the matter were still underway and the suspect was still at large.

In an unrelated incident, a Lower Gweru man lost $300 cash and was stripped naked by two suspects who attacked him while he was walking home.

Insp Mahoko said the incident occurred on Monday night. He said the victim, Ernest Fayabo, was coming from Maboleni Business Centre on his way home.

“While on the way, Fayabo was approached by two men who were armed with empty bottles. One of the suspects hit him with the bottle on the face while the other demanded cash,” said Insp Mahoko.

He said the two suspects then took $300 cash and stripped naked the complainant before getting away with the money and clothes.
He said the matter was later reported to the police and investigations were still underway.

“No arrests have been made so far,” said Insp Mahoko.
