DELTA Corporation has begun distributing hospital beds which the company pledged during the 10th anniversary of the National Castle Lager Braai Day.
The first consignment was handed over at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital on Wednesday.
The donation, made through the company’s flagship brand Castle Lager, will see 100 hospital beds delivered to public health institutions, across Zimbabwe’s ten provinces.
The initiative follows proceeds and commitments made during the 2025 Castle Lager Braai Festival, one of the country’s largest lifestyle events.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Delta Beverages marketing director Irimayi Muzorewa said the donation is part of their efforts to give back to communities that support them.
“This handover marks the fulfilment of a commitment we made during our 10th anniversary celebrations.
“We believe this contribution is a meaningful way to show appreciation while supporting the public healthcare system,” Muzorewa said.
The Harare ceremony is the first in a series of ten handovers planned nationwide.
Muzorewa said the beds are expected to improve patient care conditions and ease pressure on public hospitals. “Delta Beverages remains committed to supporting national development and investing in the well-being of the communities that form the foundation of our success.
“We truly believe that this donation is a fitting way to show our appreciation to the communities we serve, while also playing a part in supporting and advancing public healthcare.”
Delta Beverages said it remains committed to investing in community well-being and supporting national development, with a focus on initiatives that have a direct social impact.
Sally Mugabe Central Hospital chief medical officer, Dr Hopewell Mungani, welcomed the donation, saying it would enhance patient comfort and strengthen service delivery at the institution.
“We are grateful to Delta Beverages for their generous donation towards hospital beds that will improve patient care conditions in our wards,” said Dr Mungani.
The Castle Lager Braai Day, which draws participation from across the country, has increasingly incorporated philanthropic components alongside its celebration of food, music and Zimbabwean culture.
Meanwhile, Delta Corporation has inducted 100 Advanced Level and university students into its bursary programme.
Speaking at the induction ceremony held in Harare yesterday, Delta Corporation general manager for corporate affairs, Patricia Murambinda, said the programme is part of the company’s broader contribution to national development.
“Delta remains committed to supporting Zimbabwe’s national development agenda by investing in education and skills.
“Through this bursary programme, we are helping to remove financial barriers for learners and strengthen the country’s future workforce.
“The bursary scheme forms part of Delta’s broader social investment and skills development initiatives.
“In 2026, the programme is supporting 100 students across the country, from A-Level to university level.
“We urge bursary recipients to strive for excellence and use the opportunity to contribute to their communities and the country’s development,” she said.
She said this year’s programme will run under the theme: ‘Educating Today’s Learners, Powering Zimbabwe’s Future,’
“We believe targeted support for deserving students is a practical and measurable contribution to building sustainable communities and a stronger economy.”
Delta has run the education assistance programme for more than 20 years, providing school bursaries worth nearly US$100,000 annually.
To date, more than 1,300 students have benefited, with total investment reaching approximately US$2.1 million.
