A 34-YEAR-OLD man fraudulently used stolen education certificates to work at Delta Beverages Plant in Kwekwe for five years undetected.

Elias Muchenengi of 16310 Mbizo in Kwekwe ran out of luck late last month, when the plant’s loss control department got wind of it. By that time Muchenengi had earned $28 459 in wages. Yesterday, Kwekwe Magistrate Mr Story Rushambwa sentenced Muchenengi to two years in prison but conditionally suspended six months.

The agreed facts are that in January 2012, Delta Beverages Kwekwe Malting Plant advertised the vacant of Process Attendant.

Muchenengi, who did not meet the required qualifications, armed himself with Kudakwashe Chibibi’s Ordinary Level Examination certificates and national identity card. He applied for the post and got the job at the plant.

Muchenengi worked at the plant from February 1, 2012 to August 25, 2017, when Delta Beverages Loss Control department received a tip-off leading to his arrest. Mr Kudakwashe Chekayi prosecuted.
