Delta Force back in business

BOXING promoters, Delta Force Boxing Trust, have been given their licence after they paid the $317 they owed the country’s boxing regulatory authority in sanction fees.
Delta Force failed to raise the sanction fees after they hosted some local boxing matches at City Sports Centre in November last year and were suspended in March this year.

The organisation, led by Clyde Musonda, was re-registered with the Zimbabwe National Boxing Control Board and were issued with a promoter’s licence.

Musonda said he was pained by lack of support for the sport.

“Boxing is my passion and to be stripped of our licence was not good on our part as no meaningful tournaments were staged during our absence. We would like to see the sport grow and we even told (ZNBCB) to be lenient with us as we were running around to raise the funds.

“Because ZNBCB had cancelled our matches we recorded a low turnout and we went ahead with only the supporting bouts,” said Musonda.

“I thank my sponsor who paid the dues. I promise to organise more events for both established and up-and-coming boxers,” Musonda said.
