Delta invests in new Bulawayo brewhouse as city reclaims industrial hub status

DELTA Corporation is today breaking ground for its new brewhouse in Belmont, Bulawayo a development that further signals the city’s renaissance and its steady march towards reclaiming its status as Zimbabwe’s industrial hub.

The development comes at a time when several major firms are expanding operations and revamping plants in the Belmont industrial area, reflecting growing investor confidence in the city’s economic prospects.

A few years ago, Bulawayo’s industrial base had suffered a sharp decline, with several companies either closing shop or relocating to Harare, leaving thousands of residents jobless and the city’s manufacturing sector in distress.

However, under the Second Republic, a number of deliberate policies aimed at improving the ease of doing business have helped revive industrial activity. In recent years, more companies have emerged from the red, increasing capacity utilisation and re-investing in infrastructure.

A robust and competitive domestic industrial base is a key priority under the Second Republic’s National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), which seeks to lay the foundation for achieving an upper middle-income economy by 2030.

Delta’s new investment in Bulawayo is expected to create jobs, stimulate local value chains and further boost the city’s profile as a centre of industrial revival.
