DEMBARE BANK ON SAKUNDA

DYNAMOS are banking on securing a handsome windfall from Sakunda Holdings to help them navigate the CAF Confederation Cup terrain should the energy giants renew their sponsorship deal on the same terms as the previous agreement.

Sakunda Holdings have been bankrolling the Glamour Boys along with Highlanders for the past three seasons in a deal worth a combined US$5.3million.

However, the three years lapsed at the end of last year but Zimpapers Sports understands that there have been positive engagements between the parties to renew the relationship.

Dynamos chairman Moses Maunganidze said the club was hopeful the Sakunda deal would be renewed soon.

“As a club, we know how important our relationship with Sakunda Holdings is. They have made our lives very easy for the past three seasons,” Maunganidze said.

“If you look closely at it, we have managed to lure some of the best players around and we have been improving a lot in the field of play.

“We have had positive engagements with them and we remain confident that we will have them aboard going into the new season.

“We believe that if the deal is on the table then everything else will fall into place.

“We have posted some success stories with them aboard, including winning the Chibuku Super Cup last year.

“We will be playing in the CAF Confederation Cup this year and we believe having our anchor sponsors with us will lift our spirits and motivate us a lot.

“For now that’s what I can say but I should say all is looking positive. We never faced any difficulties over the past three seasons and we hope that will continue”.

But, for now, DeMbare have had to look for alternatives to enable them to sign new players as they prepare for the 2024 season.

They have been very active on the market bringing in both experience and determination into the fold. The former champions have signed midfielder Temptation Chiwunga from South Africa’s First Division side JDR Stars and Nomore Chinyerere, who was with FC Platinum.

They have also added two foreigners in Ghanaian Frederick Ansah Botchway and Sydney Uri Khob of Namibia.

“We are taking our preparations to Chisumbanje where we play Greenfuel in a friendly match on Saturday.

“That match will give the coach an appreciation of what he has in the fold and see where he needs to address.

“The new season is coming soon and we will be playing CAPS United next week, if all goes well before we can play Ngezi Platinum Stars in the Harare Mayor’s Cheer Fund Cup and the Castle Challenge Cup respectively,” said Maunganidze.
