DYNAMOS chairman, Isaiah Mupfurutsa, has cleared the air regarding Bill Antonio’s move to Belgian top-flight league club, KV Mechelen.
Antonio was unveiled by the Belgian side on Wednesday after signing a two-year contract.
Antonio had to wait for three weeks for the parties involved to come to terms.
Reports claimed Prince Edward Academy weren’t willing to accept what had been tabled by Dynamos since they had helped in the recruitment of the forward.
However, Mupfurutsa dismissed the claims, saying it was Dynamos who handed Antonio his first professional contract.
He said the deal was fruitful because of their relationship with KV Mechelen, which dates back to 2020. “The relationship is between Dynamos and KV Mechelen.
“If you recall well, in the past we have received equipment from Belgium.
“I think our partnership is now yielding fruits and we are expecting to secure more deals in Europe.
“We are targeting the European market and I’m happy with this move,” said Mupfurutsa.
He stressed that their partnership, with Prince Edward Academy, is for the Glamour Boys to act as a bridge for their youngsters.
“This is what we have just done to Antonio,” he said.
“I have heard on social media that it was Prince Edward Academy who made Antonio’s deal.
“People might fail to understand our relationship with Prince Edward Academy.
“Yes, he was on loan to Dynamos, but we offered him his first professional contract.
“For him to go to Europe, it was through Dynamos, but it was not us alone.
“There were other people we roped in to assist us for the deal to be a success.”
Mupfurutsa revealed Prince Edward Academy were also involved in the negotiation process.
He said restrictions on the contract were the reason Dynamos did not issue a press statement since Antonio signed his contract on September 6.
Meanwhile, Dynamos date Black Rhinos in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at Vengere on Sunday.
DeMbare won the reverse fixture 2-1.
