DeMbare crippled by injuries

The league kings are seeking three points so that they consolidate their position at the top of the Castle Lager Premiership table.

Dynamos have a two-point advantage over unbeaten Highlanders who are on 47 points. Bosso will be hosting Shabanie Mine in an equally exciting tie at Barbourfields.

Already, Highlanders boss Kelvin “KK” Kaindu is not underrating the task at hand as Bosso aim to reclaim their position at the top.
Shabanie Mine are third on the log and their coach Luke Masomere has warned giants Dynamos and

Highlanders not to rule the miners out of the championship race yet.
DeMbare coach Callisto Pasuwa said he was concerned about the number of players  carrying injuries ahead of the crunch tie against the Mighty Bulls.

Pasuwa’s worries have been worsened after the PSL suspended defender Patson Jaure and defensive midfielder Devon Chafa.

The two players have accumulated three yellow cards each and will be ineligible to play.
Both Jaure and Chafa have been vital cogs in Pasuwa’s squad of late and in their absence George Magariro and Milton Makopa could be making returns.

Makopa missed the last matches as he battled against a chest infection while Magariro has been relegated to the bench.

Striker Cliff Sekete has been ruled out of the match because of hamstring injury while Farai Mupasiri has a swollen leg and could watch from the terraces.

The Zambian duo of Arthur Kasoleki and Derrick Kabwe, who have struggled to cement places in the side, are out.

Kabwe is yet to recover from an ankle injury while his compatriot Kasoleki has a hamstring injury.

There had also been concerns about leftback Ocean Mushure as he sat out at training early this week.

Mushure, who scored a stunning goal against Harare City last week, only started training yesterday and will be further assessed today.
New boy, Simba Sithole, is another casualty and he would need a further evaluation today.

“Our major concern is on the spate of injuries by our players.

“I have Sekete, Mupasiri and the two Zambians out of this game.

“Ocean has a swollen knee but he has started training and I think he should be able to play,” said Pasuwa.

Sithole, who made his debut against Quelaton, could be given a role in the team but the former Mamelodi Sundowns and CAPS United forward still has to regain full fitness.

“Simba positions himself well and he has the skill but he still lacks fitness because he has not been playing.

“But I am sure he will continue to improve and we should not also rush him,” said Pasuwa.

With DeMbare playing nearly 70 percent of their matches at Rufaro, its seems the players have been prone to injuries accustomed to the artificial surface.

“Recently we have played too many matches and had been rotating the players in case of injuries.

“Now some of them have not recovered,” said Pasuwa.

Despite having the setback of the injuries, Pasuwa rallied his charges to be prepared to get a positive result.

“We still have a job to do and we should be mentally and physically prepared.

“I have challenged the players to change their attitude because at this stage of the championship we cannot afford to lose a game.

“The guys should understand that names do not play football and there is no small name like Quelaton,” said Pasuwa.

Last week, Dynamos failed to beat “little” Quelaton during regulation time in the Mbada Diamonds Cup first round and needed a penalty shootout to sail through.

“It just happened as we were preparing to play Quelaton last week, that I told the guys to  practise a penalty shoot out. But some of them were even saying we did not need that practice, assuming the match will not reach that stage.

“We took them (Quelaton) for granted and it became difficult in the end. I am glad that we had practiced the penalties otherwise we could have been out of the Mbada Cup.

“So the guys have to very prepared against Motor Action and they should understand that every match is very tough,” said Pasuwa.
Pasuwa reckons that Motor Action are no pushovers even if they are not playing with consistency.

“I watched their last game against CAPS United in Bindura and think that they dominated for the greater parts of their game. They just lost in the last minutes when CAPS United came on a counter attack. So even if Motor Action are not playing well, they have always stepped up their game against us,” said Pasuwa.

Motor Action manager Joey Antipas said he has great respect for Dynamos as champions and believes it will be a closely contested affair.

“Unfortunately we go a sucker punch at the end of our last game and lost. It happens in football and we have since moved on. I am sure the game against Dynamos will be another tight affair,” said Antipas.

The Mighty Bulls are out of the championship race but could derail Dynamos’ aspirations.

“Dynamos are the current champions and we have to give them the respect. We are former champions and in football one will never know what will happen on the day,” said Antipas.

The seasoned coach has almost a full squad at his disposal with the exception of veteran goalkeeper Marlon Jani.

“The guys are ready and they are in good shape,” said Antipas.
