“We have not performed as we should be doing as defending champions. I know everyone in the Dynamos family is not happy with the way things have gone,” said Mubaiwa.
“So far we have set up a meeting tomorrow (today) where the executive and the technical team will seek to find ways to get us back in the tracks. It’s good the problem has manifested itself early in the season when we can still find some time to sit down and find answers to our woes.
“I believe we can only move forward by sitting down and planning. We want to give the coaches a chance and hear their side of the story so that we see exactly where the problem is; whether it’s the executive, or is it the players or the coaches.”
This is not the first time that Dynamos made a false start in their campaign and Mubaiwa attributed it to the loss of players to South Africa. Mubaiwa said the Glamour Boys have found themselves in difficult circumstances at the beginning of each season ever since they started losing players to South Africa. “It’s always difficult to start the season with a new set of players.
I believe it’s not easy to get the old and new players to gel in a short space of time,” said Mubaiwa.
“I am also not sure if it is the quality of players in the team that is below standard because the majority of the players in the team are the same who made the side that brought us the titles in the last two seasons. “I think we need to work together as the management, the supporters, the coaches and the players. We don’t need to press the panic button yet because the championship race is just starting.
“I hear there were some supporters who wanted to cause a scene on Sunday but that is not the way to go about it. Their anger is understandable but there are channels of communication that are followed.
“I believe problems are solved by talking and as the club chairman I am available anytime if supporters want clarification on any matter. They can even call me if they have other views and advices they want to put across.” Coach Callisto Pasuwa said he was baffled by his team’s failure to convert chances.
“We are getting there but we are not converting those chances into goals. Tawanda (Muparati) was injured and Murape was also coming from injury so we had to put in new guys to fill in the void.
“We also thought that with fresh pair of legs it was going to change the fortunes in front of goal. It’s still early but definitely we will have to come back. “I can’t say it’s a problem of strikers because we have been scoring through midfielders as well but when we get into scoring positions we are missing the chances. So it’s a case of the whole team (not doing well) in terms of attack.”
