DeMbare eye Tarumbwa

already made public their mission to try and sign Nelson Maziwisa, the leading goal-scorer in the Premiership, from his parent club FC Platinum during this transfer window.
DeMbare have also been angling on an audacious bid to try and bring FC Platinum’s pacy forward, Donald “Dombo” Ngoma, to the capital although chances of such a deal materialising are very slim.
Chinyama, who was DeMbare’s top goal-scorer in the first half of the season, played his final game for the Glamour Boys on Sunday — two days after his move to the Buccaneers was sealed in Harare.
The big forward left Harare at 1.10pm yesterday for his new base in Johannesburg and is expected to play his first match for Pirates on Saturday, as a second half substitute, in the Black Label Carling Cup showdown against Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, at Soccer City.
Chinyama signed a three-year deal with Pirates, with the option to extend it for another two years if the marriage is successful, and DeMbare officials authorised the deal last Friday after talks with the Buccaneers’ representative, Stanley “Screamer” Tshabalala.
Tarumbwa, who turns 27 on November 25, has been playing his football and Cyprus where he featured for EN Paralimni and APOP Kinyras.
The forward, who made his name at Highlanders, is in the country on holiday and was in Botswana on Monday, on a private visit, when his handlers alerted Dynamos officials of his availability as a direct replacement of Chinyama.
DeMbare coach, Callisto Pasuwa, is keen to assess Tarumbwa as he tries to fill the big void left by Chinyama who scored nine league goals, almost half his club’s tally, during his short spell at the Glamour Boys.
The 10th goal, which came in the Hwange game, was nullified pending the outcome of an appeal lodged by Dynamos against the PSL disciplinary committee’s decision to declare that game null and void and order a replay.
Tarumbwa could arrive in the capital this week and, in the event that he strikes a deal with DeMbare, he could follow in the footsteps of Shingi Kawondera who also returned from Cyprus to play on the domestic Premiership.
“We are under pressure to get a reliable striker who can make a difference to the team in the second half of the season and, crucially, whom we can have on a long-term basis with the possibility of using him in the Champions League next year if we qualify,” said DeMbare secretary-general, Ray Kazembe.

“But it’s too early at this stage to be talking about the names of the targets that we have in mind but we are working very hard to get some players.”
Kazembe saluted Chinyama as a model professional who was being rewarded for his focus on his career.
“Takesure is a great professional and it was a pleasure to work with him because he always carried this hunger to be successful and to do very well for the club,” said Kazembe.
“We believe it was a very wise investment and he repaid us well and we wish him all the best in his future. It will not be easy to find such a reliable striker, one who has the right technique, can dribble, can control the ball, can support his teammates well, is very powerful and also scores goals regularly.”
Kazembe revealed that, given a choice, DeMbare would have chosen to keep Chinyama instead of getting the money that is being paid by Orlando Pirates for the transfer.
“There is no doubt that we would have wanted him to stay longer because he was an asset to the club, but when a player makes his mind to leave, when a foreign club makes an offer that he likes, it’s not easy to keep him,’ said Kazembe.
“Even if you keep him, there is a danger that he would not be focused anymore and he won’t play at the same level that he was playing before because his mind would be elsewhere.”
The DeMbare coaching staff is expected to advise the club’s management, in a written report to be delivered this week, on other players that can be recruited and those who have struggled to make the grade.
Pasuwa and is staff are also ready to unleash some of their teenage players, like Leroy Murape, into the firing line after having been impressed by the way the exciting Tichaona Mabvura has adapted well to the challenge.
The arrival of Cliff Sekete offers alternatives on the wings while Farai Mupasiri did well in his first full game against Rangers but missed the tie against Bosso through injury.
