IT never rains, but pours for troubled Dynamos after the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League yesterday hit them with a $4,125 fine for their fans’ violent behaviour in matches involving Chicken Inn and Caps United.
DeMbare, who are going through one of their worst spells in their glamorous history, were one of the eight clubs that found themselves on the wrong side of the law with less than a third of the season’s matches played so far.
On Sunday, Dynamos fans were again involved in running battles with the police and stoned vehicles after the team’s 0-1 loss to FC Platinum.
It could not be immediately ascertained why they have not been sanctioned for this past weekend’s violence considering that other clubs’ weekend offences have already attracted fines.
DeMbare’s fines emanated from their fans’ missile throwing during the 0-3 drubbing by Chicken Inn in the season opener at Barbourfields Stadium, as well as the clash against Caps United on May 1 in which the Caps United fans were also found guilty of the same offence.
Former Dynamos coach Paulo Jorge Silva’s expulsion during the same match resulted in a $125 fine for the Harare side.
Highlanders, Caps United and new boys Mutare City Rovers were each fined $2,000, while another new side Bulawayo City was handed a $1,000 fine.
For the expulsion of head coach Taurai Mangwiro during their league match against Triangle United, Harare City will have to part with $125, while failure to use designated dressing rooms against Triangle United at Luveve Stadium has cost Chicken Inn $750.
Another league debutant Border Strikers were hit with a $250 fine for delaying the start of their match against Chicken Inn at Maglas Stadium in Zvishavane.
Bosso fans were found guilty of missile throwing after the league match against FC Platinum, which the Bulawayo giants lost 1-2.
Bulawayo City used an undesignated entry point for their match against
Chicken Inn, which attracted a fine of $750 and a further $250 fine was imposed for Gift Mvala’s breach of Order 11 of the Standing Order Offences against Chapungu United. Mvala set up cones in Chapungu’s half, causing commotion in the process.
