On Sunday, Dynamos attracted 23 469 paying fans and grossed $111 773 in revenue from gate receipts as they beat Liga Muculmana 1-0 courtesy of Takesure Chinyama’s first half strike.
The club was left with $52 936 after deductions.
Dynamos fans, who came in their thousands, were brilliant as they stood behind their team for the better part of the match.
Murape, who has been part of the club’s last five Champions League campaigns, said DeMbare will need to lift their game against Esperance.
Dynamos will play the first leg away in Tunis later this month, over the weekend of 27 April and then finish at home two weeks later.
“It’s always tough in this tournament but I am happy we managed to get past the first round stage, unlike last year.
“I want to salute the team for this win over Liga Muculmana.
“But, most importantly, we must not forget that the job has just begun because we now face Esperance who are a more experienced side,” said Murape.
Esperance are not new to the Glamour Boys in this competition.
The north Africans dominated the teams’ last meetings in the group stage of the same tournament in 2010 after winning home and away by identical 1-0 margins, with their captain Oussama Darragi finding the target on both instances.
Murape said Dynamos are hoping for a better outing this year to erase memories of last season’s disappointment when they crashed out on the away goals’ rule against MC Alger.
Esperance remained on course in defence of their title when they beat Gambian side Brikama 4-2 on aggregate in the first round.
“They have been a tough opponent in the past and that should call for a thorough preparation.
“We are keeping in mind that our goal, always, is to reach the final and at this stage we have to believe in ourselves because Esperance are not invincible.
“I am sure we have a good squad with the ability to go all the way. We only need to work harder.”
On Sunday, Murape provided the pass that resulted in DeMbare’s goal after he was involved in a quick exchange with Chinyama.
Their centreback pairing of captain George Magariro and Partson Jaure showed a great deal of improvement while Thomas Magorimbo and Ocean Mushure patrolled the wingbacks fluently.
“I think we played as a team and we really complemented each other on the field,” he said.
“It worked well for us because we managed to get the goal that we needed in the first half, which took away some pressure from the team and there was no way we were going to let them come back,” said Murape.
