Curtworth Masango in KARIBA and Eddie Chikamhi in HARARE
SHADRECK Nyahwa scored the all-important goal as Dynamos edged ZPC Kariba 1-0 to keep alive their hopes of winning the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title this season.
Nyahwa’s goal came in the 61st minute to propel Dynamos into second place.
He tucked a loose ball into an empty net as goalkeeper Hamilton Makainganwa allowed the ball to slip through his hands from a Brendon Mpofu corner kick.
Dynamos are eight points adrift log leaders Ngezi Platinum with a game in hand.
Head coach Genesis ‘Kaka’ Mangombe said it was a tough away match and they are now focusing on their next match in the Chibuku Super Cup
“We always wanted to win this match, especially playing away from home.
“Winning against ZPC in this hot weather is always difficult but the guys showed character and managed to get a result.
“So, the good thing is we managed to collect maximum points and we are now shifting focus to the next game.
“Our next game is in the Chibuku Cup and we will try our best in the next matches.”
That game is against old rivals CAPS United who moved into the top eight on the log standings after a 1-1 draw against Cranborne Bullets at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.
Lloyd Chitembwe’s men have now picked 10 out of a possible 12 points in their last four league games.
Cranborne Bullets took the lead after 15 minutes when Prince Mutasa buried a cross from Xavier Janatana.
Joseph Thulani headed CAPS level just before the break and Rodwell Chinyengetere had an effort disallowed after the break.
