DeMbare’s only victory in the league came against newboys Tripple B at Mandava, although they have showed their potential with wins in two cup matches over Highlanders.
On Wednesday, Dynamos took the lead when former CAPS United striker Washington Pakamisa scored a beauty, a blistering strike struck on the volley fit to win any game on any stage in the world football.
It was a pity the SuperSport cameras were not there to record the action otherwise it would have featured prominently in their highlights package.
But DeMbare ended up chasing the game when FC Platinum seized the advantage.
The in-form Pakamisa will fancy his chances of getting a place in the team tomorrow while his striking partners Patrick Khumbula and Francisco Zekumbawira have been ruled out.
Chihoro said the misfiring former Hwange striker, who joined Dynamos amid a lot of buzz, is still nursing an injury while Khumbula is suspended.
“The guys are desperately seeking a good win to boost our confidence. I think we have been playing well but we have not scored the much needed goals,” said Chihoro.
“The players are geared up and I am sure they are going to look for almost five goals.
“At the moment we are more than ready to face Mononotapa and everyone is ready for the game.”
Yesterday Dynamos shifted their training base from Zimphos to the match venue Rufaro with Clive Kawinga joining in the session.
Kawinga is still to make his debut for Dynamos in a league match as he battles to shake off an injury while Augustine Mbara is yet to recover from a hamstring strain picked during the Warriors international match against Zambia.
“Kawinga who was injured has done some light training but we will not be able to use Zekumbawira because of an injury.
“Patrick Khumbula has been ruled out because of three yellow cards,” said Chihoro.
Cliff Sekete, who was at the nasty end of a lunge in face from Ali Sadiki, was back in training with his teammates but the diminutive winger has been a pale shadow of the player who generated a lot of interest at Gunners.
He was so poor, when he was introduced against FC Platinum, he appeared not so sure which team he was playing for.
After an impressive spell at the start of the season, in which he also scored in the Champions League, Sekete appears to have lost his way as he struggles to deal with the weight of expectations from the fans.
He has withdrawn into a shell and the confidence is gone and the sooner he finds his rhythm again, the better for his team.
Vice-captain Tawanda Muparati exploded as a substitute against Highlanders but was largely anonymous in the second half against FC Platinum and he needs to keep some consistency, in terms of his performance, he is to make the expected impact.
Muparati is yet to score a goal for Dynamos in the league this season.
Last year Monomotapa edged Dynamos 1-0 during the first meeting but lost the reverse fixture 2-1 when the Premiership race had reached the home stretch and some people ended up accusing Monoz coach Biggie Zuze of deliberately donating three points to DeMbare.
Tomorrow Zuze, a former DeMbare player, will be hoping to prove his critics wrong and his skipper Kuda Musharu believes they will notch a positive result over the champions.
“We have been training for this game like any other games and all the players are fit and ready for this tie,” said Musharu.
Earlier on Zuze had expressed fears that some of his players could have picked up knocks during the mid-week match against Triangle at Gibbo.
“Dynamos might have beaten us in our last meeting but this is a new year and a new team. We changed some of the personnel and tactics have also changed,” said Musharu.
Artwell Mukandi, who used to keep goals for Monomotapa last season, is now at Dynamos and will be facing his former team-mates for the first time.
Mukandi has been struggling with his fitness while George Chigova, who had been suspended after picking up a red card, is now eligible to play.
Musharu believes playing against Dynamos is also a big occasion for their team to assess their strengths and weaknesses this season.
Everything is okay for us and I know our players are highly motivated because we are playing the champions.
“So we are highly charged for the game and we hope for the best,” said Musharu.
He could be leading the attack and should expect support from Ishmael Lawe, Nelson and Charles Rukwanhi who have all managed to score this season.
There were indications last night that Monoz were planning to hike the gate charges to US$5 for cheapest ticket in what could be their biggest home match this season.
