Dynamos………………………………………………….0
Orapa United…………………………………………(0) 1
(Orapa United won 3-1 on penalties)
THIS will hurt Dynamos and their faithful for a very long time.
The Glamour Boys have only themselves to blame for crashing out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown yesterday.
They missed a penalty in regulation time after being presented with a golden opportunity to double their aggregate advantage and end the match as a contest.
Kevin Moyo’s tame effort in the 21st minute was just a sign of the tragedy that was going to unfold in the post match penalties.
Only Temptation Chiwunga scored for Dynamos in the lottery after Orapa had fought back to win the second leg 1-0 and tie the aggregate score 1-1.
Valentine Kadonzvo, the hero of the first leg with the only goal of the match, Eli Ilunga and Nomore Chinyerere failing to convert from the spot.
Kesaobaka Thatanyane, Kagisanyo Mungu and Koketso Majafi scored for Orapa to give new coach Jimmie Pantev a first for the club in four attempts.
Orapa goalkeeper Lesenya Malepela was the star of the match with his penalty save in regular time and during the lottery.
Dynamos were presented with a chance to double their advantage in the 21st minute after Shadreck Nyahwa was brought down in the box.
Kevin Moyo took the responsibility and his tame effort was punched back into play by gangly goalkeeper Malepela.
In the ensuing melee Elton Chakona shot at goal and his effort ricocheted off a defender and Emmanuel Pagal came to the end of it.
The ball crossed the line but referee Antony Doud somehow disallowed it for handball.
Orapa took control after the break and carved out some chances.
Dynamos will now have to turn to the quarter-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup to salvage some pride as they are virtually out of contention of the league race.
