DYNAMOS players’ winning bonuses were slashed by 50 percent this year and, still, they are yet to be paid a bonus for any of the four league matches they have won this season.
Some of the players claim frustration over the reduction of their bonuses has been a big part of the club’s struggles, so far this season, where all their victories have come from clubs which graduated from Division One leagues.
Last year, DeMbare were paying their players a bonus of US$300 for a win and US$150 for a draw and they competed well in the championship race and won the Chibuku Super Cup.
However, at the start of this season, the bonuses were slashed by 50 percent and the players are supposed to get US$150 for a win and US$50 for a draw.
Despite this downward revision, the players are yet to be paid a cent for their wins against Chegutu Pirates, Bikita Minerals, Arenel Movers and TelOne.
“It’s quite frustrating and one gets a feeling that there isn’t this spirit to try and provide incentives for players to go the extra mile and win matches, even when the chips are down,” said sources.
The situation is being compounded that some of the players, including those deemed to be senior players, have not yet received their signing-on fees.
It is not being helped by revelations that the club is paying its strongman, Bernard Marriot, U$1 090 a month as part of his salary.
The club is also footing his legal expenses in a long-running court case in which he is being accused of handing himself the majority shares in what his accusers claim was a fraudulent transaction.
