Dembare players boycott training, threaten to snub today’s BancABC Sup8r Cup semi-final

The players — who staged a similar protest a fortnight ago — are up in arms again, just when everyone was beginning to think calm had retur-ned to the club after posting impressive victories over Shabanie Mine and Shooting Stars last week.

Amid the chaos, the players who returned to training yesterday after resting on Monday, were defiant they were not going to play Highlanders today.

They said their contention in refusing to fulfill today’s fixture was a different case, which had nothing to do with their industrial action and the money they are owed.

The match in question was called when Highlanders walked off in the 81st minute as DeMbare, who were leading 1-0, prepared to take a penalty at Barbourfields.
