FOUR Dynamos players, red-flagged for alleged match-fixing, have told H-Metro they are being used as scapegoats to whitewash the team’s failings.
The four players have been excluded from the Glamour Boys’ Match Day squad for the second time in a row.
One of the players said it’s disappointing to be accused of things they were not involved in.
“There is no evidence whatsoever of what we are being accused of,” he said on condition of anonymity.
“Someone just woke up and decided to push his agenda at our expense.
“I’m not worried about the impact it has at the moment, but going forward, our names have been soiled.
“We want justice, someone should come forward with evidence about these allegations.
“Some fans now see us as traitors, and the worst part is that we are not even allowed to set the record straight.”
The red flag against the four players, who are all defenders and a goalkeeper, was raised in their 1-1 stalemate against Black Rhinos at Vengere in Rusape on September 11.
Dynamos took the lead in the opening minute of the match, but conceded in the 90th minute, to share the spoils.
While some fans blame the players for the team’s lacklustre performances this season, some accuse the technical team of shifting attention to the players to cover up for their tactics.
They cited CAPS United coach, Lloyd Chitembwe, who never pointed fingers at any of his players, in what perhaps to be one of their worst seasons in the club’s history.
Makepekepe endured a seven-game losing streak, but Chitembwe constantly fought in his troops’ corner by shouldering the blame.
