DeMbare rookies crave Mbada glory

The newboys believe they will play their part when they take on Monomotapa in the Mbada Diamonds Cup final.

The Glamour Boys yesterday afternoon were a confident bunch which was really relaxed as they wound up their light training session with penalties, spicing things up with motivational songs as they spurred each other on.

Speaking after the last training session yesterday, rookie defender Partson Jaure said while it would be  his biggest first final, it is still football. “Everyone when playing a game expects to win and I play in the defence and I will make sure we have to be organised from the back and not concede any goals.

“The game is similar to the other games I have been playing this season, my first time to play a Cup final match was in the NetOne Charity Shield. All the matches have pressure and are the same and I will just have to put a lot of effort.

“Monoz are a good side and we are a big team and we have been working hard and have corrected the mistakes we made when we played them in the league,” said Jaure.

The youthful defender who was nominated as one of the 11 best players in Premiership this season, believes the match will also present him with a platform to show that he has had a fantastic season in his debut year in the Premiership.

Rookie striker Farai Mupasiri playing in his first final was also confident that the new boys will emulate the senior players and help DeMbare retain the Cup.

“It feels good to feature in the final for the first time. We will give it our best. The team has done well. And I also want to do well as a way of thanking the coach who has shown faith in me.

“He told me that I can don this jersey when I was promoted from the juniors. And it is a great feeling really. You should expect 100 percent from me tomorrow (today) and hopefully I will finish the season on a high note, it is the last game of the season and I will go all out,” said Mupasiri.

Former Gunners midfielder Cliff Sekete, who will also be taking part in his first final Cup, is optimistic that the season which began with him at relegated Chando Kupisa before crossing to Dynamos during the transfer season will end perfectly for him with two crucial medals.

“I am looking forward to tomorrow’s (today) game and it is quite exciting to be featuring in a Mbada Cup final for the first time.

“I have to give it my all since we want to win the final. We have corrected our mistakes from the first match. Everyone should expect fireworks and I will give them my best,” said Sekete. The young midfielder also believes winning the Cup would be a way of saying thank you to coach Callisto Pasuwa who gave him confidence to play and win matches for the champions.

While most of the newboys will be featuring in their first Mbada Cup, it is not the same for defender Ocean Mushure, who played in last year’s final albeit for the losing side Motor Action. The defender will be hoping that this time around he will be on the victorious side.

“We will win this game and we will continue from where we left off against Monomotapa in the league game. I am hoping this year I will be on the winning side.

“Morale is high in the camp and we want to retain the Cup and win a double again this season.

“I have played in a Cup final before and know how it feels to end up on the losing side. By winning this Cup it will also be a way of thanking the coaches who stood by us, the new guys. It is not easy to move to a new club and fit into the team. But the coaches were really motivating and have been able to do well this season. “It is also the time to thank our supporters who have been supporting us the whole season and they should come in their numbers and cheer us on,” said Mushure.

The leftback said playing against his former side Monoz will also be extra motivation. The defender who was on loan at Motor Action last season did not part ways nicely with Monomotapa as early this year they tried to hamper his move to the Glamour Boys saying he still had a valid contract with them and were recalling him back to the club.

Mushure had to delay his league debut until he was cleared before slowly working his way into the team where he had to compete with another left footed defender Augustine Mbara.
