DYNAMOS security chief, Abraham Kwenda, was dragged to court yesterday by the mother of his child, who is seeking an upward variation in maintenance.
Kwenda was hauled to court by Constance Hlongwani, who wanted him to pay US$100, instead of the current $40 000 for their 12-year-old child.
Constance told the court that what Kwenda was paying was not enough to take care of his child because the prices of a lot of things had gone up.
She said the child needs food, transport money to and from school and to cover for other expenses and she did not have the financial resources to meet all these expenses.
“I want him to pay US$100 so that I can cater for our child’s needs, including school fees,” she said.
However, Kwenda offered US$40, saying he was just a bouncer at Dynamos, and that he has another family to take care of.
“I have two other children and I can’t afford to pay her claims. I am employed as a security guard by Dynamos Football Club and I earn US$120 per month,” he said.
Magistrate Ayanda Dlamini ordered Kwenda to pay US$60 for the upkeep of his child.
