DeMbare and Rhinos have been part of the event for the last two seasons.
But the organisers have since roped in the Green Machine after DeMbare indicated they could not be part of the affair this year.
Sources said DeMbare decided to pull out because of contractual issues.
DeMbare vice-chairman Webster Chikengezha said the club, which is currently preparing for the Champions League, could not commit themselves because they failed to agree with the organisers on terms of participation.
“We are not taking part in this event because what has been offered by the organisers was not in agreement with what we had wanted. So we found it not fit to play in this game.
“This decision was reached two weeks ago and we communicated it to the organisers. Although there have been talks to try and make an arrangement, our position is that we are not going to play unless something new happens,” said Chikengezha.
The organisers have lined up eight teams to take part in the event and these include the print media against the electronic media, Mbada Diamonds versus the Parliamentarians.
CAPS United and Black Rhinos will curtain-raise for the main match of the day which will pit the musicians’ team against that of the soccer legends.
Chimbodza said besides replacing Dynamos with CAPS United, there are no changes to the programme.
“Dynamos are not part of us this year due to circumstances beyond our control. But CAPS United have come on board. We are expecting the event to be successful as it has been in the previous years. The whole idea is to create an exciting family day and proceeds will go to charity,” said Chimbodza.
This year’s charity soccer match, to be held under the theme “Bhora Umdlalo 2013”, will feature Zimbabwe’s top musicians and yesteryear football players like John Phiri, Agent Sawu, Brenna Msiska, Gift Muzadzi, Angirai Chapo, Alois Bunjira, Willard Khumalo, Callisto Pasuwa, Norman Mapeza, George Rollo, Collins Kabote and Rahman Gumbo.
Superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, Alick Macheso, Leonard Zhakata, Victor Kunonga, Somandla Ndebele, Peter Moyo and Jah Prayzah, King Shaddy, Guspy Warrior, Nicholas Zakaria, Gulf Makina, Victor Kunonga, Winky D, Sniper Storm, Freeman, First Farai, Hosiah Chipanga, Josh Hozheri and Chipaz himself, among others, will be part of the line-up of musicians. Gospel Musician Charles Charamba will sit on the bench as the coach.
Proceeds from the charity match will be channelled towards assisting musician Tedius Matsito who had one of his legs amputated, as well as promoting junior football.
