Curtworth Masango in KARIBA
SHADRECK NYAHWA scored the all-important goal as Dynamos edged ZPC Kariba 1-0 in a tough Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Nyamhunga.
Nyahwa’s goal that made the difference came in the 61st minute to propel Dynamos into second place and keep their title hopes alive.
He tucked a loose ball into an empty net as goalkeeper Hamilton Makainganwa allowed the ball to slip through his hands from a Brendon Mpofu corner kick.
Dynamos are however, eight points adrift log leaders Ngezi Platinum with a game in hand.
Dynamos head coach Genesis ‘Kaka’ Mangombe said it was a tough away match and they are now focusing on their next match in the Chibuku Super Cup
“We always wanted to win this match especially playing away from home. Winning against ZPC in this hot weather is always difficult but the guys showed character and managed to get a result.
“So the good thing is we managed to collect maximum points and we are now shifting focus to the next game.
“We all want to win the next matches in front of us but we have to play every game as it comes and now our next game is in the Chibuku Cup and we will try our best in the next matches,” he said.
ZPC Kariba coach Luke Masomere said the game was balanced only for the goalkeeping blunder that cost them the game.
“It was really a balanced game. They dominated in the first half and we dominated the second half.
“ A schoolboy blunder from our goalkeeper gifted Dynamos the all-important goal that separated the two teams,” he said.
Dynamos goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa made the difference in the first half, denying successive long range shots from Tellmore Pio and Fanuel Shoko in the opening six minutes.
Tafiremutsa was to deny ZPC Kariba again, this time thwarting Moses Demera who unleashed a shot that was going for the top corner.
Dynamos had their own chances through Shadreck Nyahwa whose shot went inches wide in the ninth minute after a quick exchange of passes while two minutes later, Keith Madera’s effort went wide from close range.
However, their best chance of the half came in the 17th minute when Elton Chikona dispossessed Ian Nekati, rounded off goalkeeper Hamilton Makangainganwa but missed.
Not much of action was seen afterwards.
In the second half the introduction of Emmanuel Paga and Eli Ilunga saw Dynamos increasing pressure up front.
