DYNAMOS coach Callisto Pasuwa has reportedly been given a one-match ultimatum or face the boot following his side’s shock exit from the lucrative Mbada Diamonds Cup at the hands of a brave How Mine on Sunday.DeMbare lost 1-0 and now all the talk of another double has gone up in smoke and even the league championship is also no longer certain.
Sources within the former Mbada Cup kings said the Dynamos executive was badly shaken by the defeat and told Pasuwa immediately after the match that a loss to FC Platinum in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tomorrow will not be acceptable.
Ironically Pasuwa faces Lloyd Mutasa, the man he replaced at Dynamos, setting the stage for a grudge match.
“It dawned on everyone that the season might end without any trophy for the club. Another worrying factor is that Pasuwa does not have an assistant and his technical abilities have been exposed. I understand there shall be a meeting today (yesterday) where the club will officially tell Pasuwa about the ultimatum,” said the source.
Dynamos chairman, Kenny Mubaiwa while not revealing the agenda, confirmed the meeting between the executive and the technical team. “The team now faces the stark reality of losing even the league title. This is not acceptable at all and as I speak to you I have instructed our secretary to call for a meeting today with the technical team, some questions have to be answered,” said Mubaiwa. He said they would give the coach an ultimatum but did not confirm whether it will be a one-match ultimatum.
Dynamos lead the table by a point from Highlanders and any slip up tomorrow and a win for the resurgent Bosso will spell disaster for the blue and white boys.
PSL action resumes today after a weekend of Mbada Diamonds Cup quarter-finals with Monomotapa taking on Triangle at Rufaro Stadium in a match that will be beamed live on SuperSport 9.
The rest of the teams take to the field tomorrow. Chicken Inn who bowed out of the cup following their loss to Caps United meet the same team at the giant National Sports Stadium hoping to revenge.
Both teams still have a mathematical chance of lifting the league title and that on its own will add excitement to the match. Giant killers How Mine, who have been in Harare from Saturday, will clash with struggling and firm relegation candidates, Motor Action while it will be a battle of the mining teams at the Colliery Stadium when Hwange take on unpredictable Shabanie Mine.
Hwange are still gasping for breath in their fight against relegation but if they put up the same lifeless performance that saw them bow out of the Mbada Diamonds Cup when they were beaten 2-0 by Harare City on Saturday, their life will be very difficult.
Tripple B play a resurgent Highlanders who drilled three goals past Buffalloes on Sunday. Highlanders seem to have hit the form at the right time with the boys suddenly adopting a never-say-die attitude with almost all of them giving it their best in every game.
Tshilamoya are now favourites for a league and cup double. Meanwhile, chairman Peter Dube said they were expected to meet last night and deliberate on the gate charges with indications that they may revert to the $3 rest of the ground charge.
Highlanders are likely to attract a full house at Barbourfields Stadium given their good form.
