Demera credits Magaya for good season

MOSES DEMERA has credited Prophet Walter Magaya for the good season he is enjoying and the Gunners star, who has been the best player in the World Navi Northern Region Division One league, believes there is more to come from him.
The 25-year-old said Gunners were fated to be champions this year.
“We are looking forward to maintaining the position that we have achieved. At our church we are in the year of taking over so we just need to maintain that gap to claim the championship,” said Demera.

“There is no time to relax, we need to keep on working hard and it will be a bonus for us.
“We are doing it for the whole PHD family, they are really behind us whether we are playing in Kariba or in Shamva they have been following us.
“The church has helped us so much.”

Demera leads the Golden Boot race and the Gunners star believes if he remains focused he stands a chance to get the Player of the Year award at the end of the season.
The midfielder, who scored six goals last season for his side, has scored 11 goals in 17 played matches, helping his side collect some big points in their campaign.
And he has proved to be the best player so far in the league.

Demera said he had earlier this year tried to cross the floor to Black Rhinos, a move that was blocked by Gunners president Cuthbert Chitima and Prophet Magaya, who persuaded him to stay.

And, it proved, just the right decision.
“Maybe it was meant to be for me to be where I am today and when I was with Rhinos in Kariba, the man of God phoned and said he was taking over Gunners and he wanted me to come back,” said Demera.

“We grew up in the same neighbourhood with the prophet in Chitungwiza.
“I think it is by the grace of God that I made a great decision because I remember sometime back some coaches and players used to say you are a good player, what are you doing in Zimbabwe, but I said my time will come.

“And I think it has come. By the grace of God I think I will be somewhere and I just want to keep scoring to help my team to achieve our goals.
“I think it was a wise decision for me to stay at Gunners. I am doing what I am paid for. It is my duty to carry the team and I am looking forward to do that. I just want to keep scoring, stay humble and be focused,” said Demera.

He believes they are under pressure but, together as a team, they will weather the storm.
“The pressure is there, the competition is very high and the second half is going to be tough as teams step up the gear.

“So, I just think we will work very hard and our coaches are doing a very good job.”
Demera said he was looking forward to scoring more goals as he eyes the Player of the Year award.

“It is a big motivation, I think right now I am thinking of it but I need to stay focused. I just want to keep on playing good football.
“I know God will make a way. I hope to add my goal tally. I know goals will come, I don’t know how many but I know they will come.

“At our team I play as an attacking midfielder so goals just come but during the beginning of the season I didn’t set any targets but now I have set my targets through my coach.”
