Dendera music fans in for a treat

Entertainment Reporters
DENDERA music fans in Bulawayo are set to have a great weekend when Allan Chimbetu and the Orchestra Dendera Kings Central Committee stage a show at Waverley Hotel tonight. The show is part of Allan’s comeback shows across the country which will see him perform in Gweru at Takarangana Nite Club at Mkoba 6 tomorrow night and Manjengwa in Shurugwi on Sunday. All the shows start at 8pm.

The talented musician is back doing his own shows and Allan’s manageress, Abigal Kuleya said contrary to reports, he has not ditched Sulumani, but Sulu is now ready to take to the waters alone.

“Allan is the father of Douglas, Tryson and Suluman. Who ever needs supervision on show and recording will get it,” she said
Allan is in the studio working on his latest album that will be out soon.

Kuleya said the group Dendera Kings Central Committee has a lot of members and he is using some, while Douglas is using others.

She called on fans to come in their numbers saying Allan has been in the music industry for a long time and fans should expect good shows at the three venues.

The group is said to have good dancers and different dance routines from those used by other Dendera outfits.
“Allan always gives his best at his shows, fan should expect a neatly organised outfit on stage. Our routines are different from the other Dendera bands,” she said.

In an interview Allan said fans should not read too much on his movement.
“My son (Sulu) needed me for some reasons and I went there to help him. I am neutral, now I am waiting for Tryson and Douglas to call on me and I will go and help them, until I see they have been fine tuned,” he said.

In recent months Allan has made headlines for his dance moves while with Sulu. The dance moves that he and Francis “Franco” Daka had popularised were characterised by imitations of dance routines by other musicians. Fans will be waiting to see the Dendera father figure doing the same moves that made Sulu one of the best live performers in the country.

It remains to be seen if Allan will be able to compete with his three sons, with Sulu looking likely to be ahead of all the Dendera Kings outfits.
“One advantage that Sulu has is that he has all the original Dendera instrument players at his disposal,” said Allan.

Allan has already held a show in Harare with his band but this will be the first time for him to be in Bulawayo, Gweru and Shurugwi in a year.

The two sons of late music legends Peter “Young Igwe” Dehwa and Tryson “Dr Nero”’ Chimbetu will take their acts to Masvingo’s popular night spot Ritz Nightclub tonight in what promises to be a thriller.
The two talented artistes will face off for the first time in Masvingo.

Young Igwe is presently riding high on his latest offering, Mushonga which fans have received well and all his previous shows have attracted capacity crowds.

Despite fans’ comments that he is struggling to fit into his father’s shoes Moyo has proved his critics wrong by doing his first project which is laden with danceable tunes.

The last time he played at the same venue, Moyo left revellers crying for more. This time around they will have the opportunity to listen to all songs which have been the talking point in all shows that he has staged since the album’s release last month.

The Kwekwe-based artiste who has managed to keep his Utakataka outfit intact, save for the two members is expected to continue from where he left last month.

Tryson, son of late the Naison, who some fans claim has the original Dendera beat and imitates his late uncle, Simon Chimbetu with the aplomb of a genius, is also expected to leave music lovers spellbound.

He is expected to play songs that incude Kumapako, SMS, Ambi, Rima to name but a few.
In all his shows, the shy singer has left lasting impressions, so much and fans can expect a scintillating performance from him.
