A DENTIST from Victoria Falls escaped unhurt when he lost control of his vehicle which veered off the road and overturned.
The officer commanding Victoria Falls, Chief Superintendent Jairos Chiwona, said the accident occurred on Tuesday at around 10PM.
He identified the man as Dr Wayne Mbeva, 28, of Chinotimba Medical Centre.
“I can confirm that we received a report about an accident which occurred along Livingstone Way. The driver escaped with no visible injuries.
“He was driving a Subaru when he approached the roundabout.
“He admitted he was driving at 80 to 100 kilometres per hour.
“He said as he was driving, he saw a warthog and when he tried to avoid it, he veered off the road and hit a tree,” Chief Supt Chiwona said.
He said the dentist should have been driving at 60km per hour at the time of the accident.
Mbeva was admitted to Victoria Falls Hospital overnight for checks. He was discharged on Wednesday morning.
According to witnesses, Mbeva was lucky to be alive.
“I was coming from work at around 10PM when I saw a car speeding. It veered off the road and hit a tree.
“The person inside was lucky to be alive as we called an ambulance but he didn’t want to get in as he appeared confused,” said Bekithemba Moyo, who witnessed the accident.
