FORMER Dynamos star striker Denver Mukamba returned to football with a brace which inspired his new club Scotland to a 3-1 victory over Trojan in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League at the weekend.
The match day four saw Scotland move to second place on 12 points after five games and trail leaders Harare City by three points. Harare City managed to get the better of Black Mambas 2-1 in a lunch-hour kick-off at Motor Action on Sunday.
In the Central Region League, Beitbridge-based Dulibadzimu United assumed pole position with a convincing 3-0 win away to Black Eagles at Simbi stadium in Mberengwa on Saturday.
Evidence Chirasva, Tinotenda Matsika, and Blessed Makusha were on target for Dulibadzimu United. Dulibadzimu United coach Stanley Ncube said getting to the top of the log standings will push his team to achieve more because of the pressure of expectations from the team’s supporters. “This win put us in a pressure position as we become the team to beat in upcoming fixtures. Also, our fans would want us to remain on top,” Ncube said. “On the positive side, it’s a big motivation for the players to want to continue grinding results whether it’s home or away. At this stage, we now have this belief that impossible is possible.”
