WHAWHA’s preparations have been dealt a blow with four key players set to miss action when the prison wardens take on ZPC Kariba in a Castle Lager premiership match at Ascot Stadium today. The prisons and correctional services side would be without Gift Saunyama who is out through injury and midfielder Livingstone Genti who is with the national team for the Cosafa Cup tournament.
Musa Bude is also missing in action and so is Marshal Machazane, both serving suspensions after accumulating three yellow cards each.
The unavailability of the four players comes as “Chekera Pasi” technical advisor, Lloyd Mutasa lamented the lack of depth in his side earlier this week following his side’s six nil hammering at the hands of Triangle last week.
Despite the setback, Mutasa believes that his replacements would do the job for him and come out with maximum points.
“I know people have been talking about our loss to Triangle but two games are never the same. When you lose you go back to the drawing board and work on your weaknesses and this is what we have been doing for the past five days.
“Therefore, I do not see anything stopping us from beating ZPC Kariba when we play them tomorrow (today). Like I have said it is important for us to pick points at home and this game is no different,” he said.
Ascot has never been a good hunting ground for “Kauya Katuruturu” as they have never won a match there and Whawha would be hoping to inflict more misery.
In the two matches ZPC Kariba have played at Ascot so far, the power generators were walloped three nil by Chapungu last season in the process ending their nineteen match unbeaten run before losing 1-2 to the same opposition early this season.
However, caretaker coach, Paul Chimalizeni believes today would be a different ball game altogether and declared that his team will pick its first set of maximum points at the venue.
“We have prepared for the match and we cannot be dwelling much in the past that we have not won at Ascot. There is a first time for everything and I believe tomorrow will be our day to come right.”
Chimalizeni will also be missing the services of Thomas Magorimbo and Raphael Manuvire who are with the national team.
