endured by the banking public.
Addressing delegates at the High Level Economic Forum being in Victoria Falls, BAZ president Mr George Guvamatanga said the ombudsman will also handle grievances against the central bank and the BAZ.
“The ombudsman’s office will be an independent body where the banking public can go for arbitration if they are not satisfied with the outcome of their complaints,” he said.
“We are working together with the RBZ but I cannot tell when we will complete the task and other modalities because it is still in the early stages.”
Commenting on the same issue, RBZ deputy governor Dr Kupikile Mlambo said the concept was working well in other countries.
“It is a very good thing that gives the public some security because they will have somewhere to report malpractices. At the central bank we do not have systems to deal with such matters at the moment,” he said. — New Ziana.
