Deputy Minister donates Christmas gifts and promises inmate training at Inyathi Prison

THE national assembly representative for Bubi constituency Cde Simelisizwe Sibanda yesterday made some time for Inyathi prison inmates where he also donated Christmas goodies for them.

Cde Sibanda, who is also the Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science, and Technology Development, promised to facilitate training for the inmates at the country’s industrial training centres so that they can acquire life skills and be able to look after themselves once released.

“Whatever the circumstances, they remain our brothers and relatives. They deserve New Year celebrations like you and I. I interacted with inmates at Inyathi.  Abapiki kodwa bayaqondiswa belungiselela ukuba ngabantu abehlukileyo bephuma lapha. We will make sure they get training at our Industrial Training Centres. They need a skill so that they do not come back here. Happy New Year in advance to them,” Cde Sibanda posted on his Facebook timeline.

When contacted, Cde Sibanda said 20 inmates were recipients of his generosity.

The donated goods include bread, mealie meal, sugar, cooking oil, tissues, salads, salt, butternut, soft drinks, and a soccer ball for the inmates to do wellness exercises.
