Deputy Minister Mazungunye partners traditional healer in drug abuse fight

JUSTICE, LEGAL AND PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS Deputy Minister Nobert Mazungunye, who is also Mazowe South Member of Parliament, on Friday joined hands with popular traditional healer Sekuru “Peter Chingudzi ” Nyangatayani in a campaign to fight drug and substance abuse in his constituency.

The duo were speakers at a function organised by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training  at Chibara Farm in Mazowe, Mashonaland Central province.

The event was graced by stakeholders from Ministry of Health and Child Care; the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs; pastors and traditional healers.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Mazungunye said he will continue to speak out against drug and substance abuse.

“The fight against drugs calls for a collective approach, and l will definitely make time in this province to assist in the fight, and l will also share the good news to provincial leadership so that we deal with the issue for good as a province,” he said.

Sekuru Nyangatayani said youths should listen to their elders and shun drugs.

“Drugs are killing the nation as well as killing youths, so the youths should listen to elders and shun drugs.

“The community leaders are working day in and day out to curb drug abuse, so do your part by not involving yourselves in drug abuse,” he said.

Some inmates also took time to educate youths against drug and substance.
