Deputy principal flees after beating up teachers with baseball bat

THE deputy principal at the Christian College Academy in Insiza District is on the run after he assaulted the institution’s principal and two fellow teachers.

Matabeleland South Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Loveness Mangena said Vusa Ncube attacked the principal, Mr Progress Ncube, Mrs Martha Ncube and Ms Simangaliso Jamela with a baseball bat after Mr Ncube called him to sign a letter of written warning.

The incident occurred on April 9 at around 9AM in Insiza District.

“I can confirm that we have launched a manhunt for Vusa Ncube who works as a deputy principal at Christian College Academy in Insiza District in connection to the assault of three people,” she said.

“On 9 April at around 9AM one of the complainants Mr Progress Ncube called Vusa to his office to sign a letter of written warning.

“He also called Ms Simangaliso Jamela who is a teacher at the school so that she could be a witness. This pissed off Vusa who went to his office where he collected a baseball bat and returned with it.”

Insp Mangena said Vusa tried to hit Mr Ncube with the weapon but Ms Jamela intervened and he hit her instead. Vusa went on to assault Mr Ncube several times until he lost consciousness.

She said Mrs Martha Ncube who is the principal’s wife and a teacher at the school tried to intervene but Vusa struck her as well.

Insp Mangena said Vusa fled from the scene in his vehicle and is still at large. She said Mr Ncube is admitted at the United Bulawayo Hospitals where he is in a critical condition.

Mrs Ncube and Ms Jamela sustained some fractures and were ferried to Filabusi District Hospital. Insp Mangena appealed to members of the public with information on Vusa’s whereabouts to contact the police.

“I would like to appeal to members of the public with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact the police,” she said.

“Members of the public are also urged to desist from resorting to violence when faced with disputes. People should find amicable ways of resolving disputes or engage third parties.”-@DubeMatutu
