Inline Academy coach Shadreck Mlauzi said the game was a tough contest.
“It was a tough contest featuring bitter rivals. It was exciting and was full of tension though our opponents tended to be too physical.
“We are gradually getting there and as the league progresses the team will be fully fit. We are gunning for the championship and will go all out to win the league,” said Mlauzi.
New Orleans’ assistant coach Sithetheliwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda said her charges had an upper hand in the first half but missed a lot of chances.
“We were all over them. We had goal disallowed, which we believe was a genuine goal.
“And when Ntombi was red carded it put us under a lot of pressure and they threw everything at us but I am glad the girls showed character and absorbed the pressure,” said Sibanda.
At Mufakose grounds, Mufakose Queens, who ran riot in the opening match routing Masvingo Queens 11-0, met their match when they were held to a 1-1 draw by a composed Black Rhinos.
Mufakose and national women Under-20 team coach Langton Giwa conceded that it is getting tough in the league.
“There is competition. All the teams are fighting but we are looking forward to winning the league.
“In this match we failed to utilise chances which came our way and the army side is a good side,” said Giwa.
The match between Cosa Guruve and Cyclone at Mudhidho, which was played under protest as the visiting Mbare side did not travel with the player licences, has been awarded to Cosa on a 3-0 scoreline. Cyclone had won 9-1 after they convinced the referee that they should fulfil the match without their licences since they had not been issued with licences yet they were the first team to get the player registration documents.
Meanwhile, the match between Flame Lily and Masvingo Queens scheduled for Chikurubi training grounds did not take place after Masvingo lost their player Sunungurai Chatikobo who was involved in an accident on her way from school.
