FASHION designer and photographer, Chipochangu Dzimano, says she uses recycled bottles and tree barks to create jewellery.
The Goromonzi-based artist also uses bottle lids, peach seed, jacaranda pods, buttons, kwarimba pods from Musasa tree, to make jewellery.
The largely self-taught artist hopes to teach and inspire young ladies to be creative
Speaking to H-Metro, Dzimano said her artwork serves as a reminder not to cut down trees but rather turn them into beautiful artefacts
“My inspiration comes in many different forms, nature, media, personal experiments and other artwork.
“I work at home and it’s a major challenge, if only there was a studio for Mashonaland West artists to work on different artworks and material supply as well.
“Girls need to be considered in the industry.
“I learnt drawing, painting and crafting by myself.
“I never went to an art school and most of my artwork comes from stories I used to hear during counselling sessions.
“I hope for the youths to establish art studios in communities so that the addiction of social media and drugs can be minimised since they will be creating art.”
The diversified artist is currently working on a piece for the Nhaka gallery exhibition this month.
She also does pebble art as a great way to teach young kids.
Dzimano also uses buttons from worn out clothes to create artwork, raising awareness on keeping the environment clean.
