urged Zimbabweans to desist from violence and vote peacefully during the harmonised election on July 31 to shame the country’s detractors. He also urged his party supporters to vote for Zanu-PF to defend the gains of independence.
Cde Mohadi made the remarks while addressing a capacity crowd at Dulibadzimu Stadium during a campaign rally on Friday.
The rally was also attended by senior party cadres from Matabeleland South province including Cde Tambudzani Mohadi who is the party’s senatorial candidate for Beitbridge constituency.
“As a party we are against the use of violence as a way of inducing people to vote,” said Cde Mohadi.
“Let’s go out there and vote in our numbers during the elections and make sure that Zanu-PF gets a two thirds majority.
“We are one people. There is no need for us to fight each other. Let me remind you once again that as a party we are the true custodians of our country’s hard-won independence and the revolution and hence all of you have to vote for Zanu-PF to make sure that we bring the revolution to its logical end.”
Cde Mohadi said there was need for people to work together in seeing the complete transfer of wealth into the hands of the majority.
He said the police had enough manpower to deal with all unruly elements during the election period, likening this year’s harmonised elections to the historic 1980 polls that swept away colonial rule.
Cde Mohadi warned the electorate to desist from tribal politics, saying the war against neo-colonialism needed everyone’s support.
He also described the MDC formations as the agents of the Western sponsored regime change agenda which he said was aimed at reversing the people’s aspirations and gains of the liberation struggle.
