CRIMINAL investigations officers have been encouraged to take sport seriously, as it can help keep them healthy and fit in the execution of their duties. Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Southern Region co-ordinator Assistant Commissioner Thulani Ncube said this while officially closing the 2016 edition of the CID Southern Region Coordinator’s Sports Gala at Milton High School on Saturday.
The Southern Region consists of Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Bulawayo provinces. “I would like to challenge all detectives in the region to take sport seriously as it will keep them healthy and fit since a healthy body maintains a sound mind and it will go a long way in the performance of our detective work,” said Ass Comm Ncube.
Bulawayo emerged first followed by Matabeleland South, with Matabeleland North taking last place. The gala was also used to select a Southern Region team to compete at the CID Director’s Gala set for Chinhoyi.
“I urge all those who were selected to represent the region at the Director’s Gala to devote their time and effort to thoroughly prepare themselves to compete. I believe you will bring all the gold medals back home,” he said.
At the Director’s Gala in Chinhoyi, a final CID team to compete at the Commissioner General of Police Sports Gala set for Bulawayo in August will be selected.
