A FIVE kilometre diversion route will open to traffic this Friday along the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road to allow for major rehabilitation works on the Cross Jotsholo section.

“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development wishes to inform the motoring public and all road users that traffic will be diverted to detour routes due to the ongoing Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road Rehabilitation and Upgrading Project,” read part of the Ministry’s statement.

The temporary route, set to open on August 15, is designed to ensure smooth and safe progress on roadworks while protecting motorists and construction crews.

Clear signage will be in place to guide drivers through the alternative route. The Ministry said it regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates public patience.

The road upgrades form part of the National Roads Rehabilitation Programme under Vision 2030, with five contractors — Fossil Contracting, Masimba Construction, Syvern Investments, Bitumen Resources and Tensor Systems — on site.
