THERE is no way a serious-minded Christian can ignore “Breakthrough is Imminent”, a recently published book written by biomedical scientist Tinei Shamu (32).
For, this is a book endorsed by some of Zimbabwe’s luminaries in the Christian fraternity.
The foreword is by Pastor Tom Deuschle who is also Tinei’s pastor. The blurb has remarks from Dr Shingi Munyeza, Faith Ministries pastor and CEO, African Sun Limited.
Renowned motivational author and speaker Milton Kamwendo who is also CEO of the bookstore chain Innov8 also comments on the book.
Tinei introduces the subject he tackles thus: “Everyone at different stages in their lives expects a breakthrough of some sort.
In order to achieve breakthrough, one needs to be seriously determined to move from where they are now to where they see themselves in their ideal world.”
He adds that the “principles that bring about success are very simple but effective. Often everyone knows about them but only a few people actually apply them in their lives… (and), Knowledge alone is useless; it only becomes useful when applied . . . The key is to develop a mindset for success – a mindset that gears you for abundance and abundance…”
Tinei explores the issues under five chapters, and each chapter has sub-sections: Getting your attitude; Connecting to the eternal source; Disengaging from limitations; Releasing the power from within; and, Now put it to use.
With the exception of a few, each section begins with a biblical quote, and ends with an affirmation the reader has to make. For example, the affirmation after the sub-section titled
“Tinei (what have we got)? is, “I am an ACTION person. I work with what I have and believe God to perfect the rest. I adjust my effort continuously until I reach my goals.”
This sounds like a personal statement of what Tinei and some in his generation are like – achievers and go-getters who know that everything is possible with the Lord.
He concludes by saying that the basis of the book was to get the reader’s attitude right, “working with God, the eternal source, getting free of limitations, making full use of the power within you and being a doer…”
There are also scriptural references for every chapter.
A well-laid out book with a beautiful cover design, “Breakthrough is Imminent” is easy to read and full of biblical and practical examples for local situations.
This is also not just another motivational book for Tinei says that the principles he talks about were all extracted from the Bible because he believes that the Bible “is the reference point for all things and the foundation for wisdom.”
The thread on the issues Tinei tackles can also be followed on his blog site: www.tinei.bravejournal.com. Readers can also tweet him on http://twitter.com/tineip or follow him on his Facebook site, http://www.facebook.com/tinei.shamu.
In his foreword, Pastor Tom Deuschle says in part, “Tinei speaks to his generation about the ideals and ideas that can distinguish them from generations that have gone before them in Africa and particularly Zimbabwe”.
He commends him for taking that step of faith: “God bless you for your labour and willingness to go to print.”
Dr Munyeza remarks that “Breakthrough is imminent” gives readers the handles to deal with daily struggles. Milton Kamwendo adds, “Each chapter is a compact, bit-sized capsule that gives you the mileage if applied seriously”.
In an interview with this writer, Tinei said he started off writing on his (Internet) blog site, “and because the feedback was good, I decided to get more serious and compile my material into a book. I still write on my blog www.takunda.wordpress.com.”
The book market is depressed at the moment with some local writers deciding not to write and/or lamenting the low sales of their books. Why did Tinei opt for a printed book, instead of an e-book?
This was his response: “A printed copy is still more accessible to our local market. It can be kept for a very long time.
“It is easier to handle and read from anywhere at low cost compared to other reading devices. It’s friendly to the eyes (for most of us).
This does not mean that the book will not be available in other formats in time to come.”
He added, “I think that it is also our responsibility as authors to embrace the various formats available to package our material and sell to the global market.”
“Breakthrough is Imminent” is not Tinei’s first publication.
He has another free short e-book “Reborn to Power” available from his blog site. He also said he would continue writing:
“There is already another book on the way but I can’t promise when it will be available but the manuscript is done.”
