President Mnangagwa should be commended for his unwavering dedication to improving infrastructure development across the country thereby uplifting the livelihoods of all citizens, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Dr Aplonia Munzverengwi has said.

She made the remarks while officiating at the commissioning of classroom blocks for Chad Guruuswa and Tongogara Secondary Schools as well as the Hwedza Flea Market in Hwedza recently. Construction of this infrastructure was done using devolution funds.

“Today, we gather here with a shared vision and commitment to the future of our children and the development of our communities. The projects I have commissioned today in two different schools are not just bricks and mortar; they symbolise President  Mnangagwa’s unwavering dedication to improving educational infrastructure and support for local development through devolution funds.

“Our Government recognises that education is the cornerstone of progress and empowerment. By providing additional blocks of classrooms at Chad Guruuswa Secondary School, we are not only addressing the pressing issue of overcrowded classrooms but also enhancing the learning environment for our children to be conducive. Guruuswa Secondary School assisted our children who used to walk long distances to nearest secondary schools like Bolton and Numwa which are approximately 20km away from the area,” she said.

Dr Munzverengwi said investing in education guarantees a brighter future for the next generation.

“When we invest in education, we invest in our future. The upgrading and establishment of another block at Tongogara Secondary School is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the Government and the communities we serve.

“As our President always says ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’,  here we are, our schools in Hwedza District are built by our council working together with local members (of the community) who contributed in the form of labour and other locally available materials. I’m glad to say your tireless advocacy and engagement have played a crucial role in bringing these projects to fruition.

“To our councillors and Hwedza Rural District Council management please note that your commitment has transformed the Government’s vision into reality, and for that I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the establishment of blocks of classrooms I commissioned today,” she said.
