Dhewa leaves Bulawayo revellers asking for more

The show, which was opened by the Somanje brothers, Daiton and Josphat, provided entertainment from the top drawer. The duo also gave a good account by playing their old and new songs.
However, it was the elder brother Daiton who wowed the crowd with his exhilarating dances that reminded his fans of the good old days before their acrimonious split.
Fans must be keeping their fingers crossed that the reunion is not a one-off thing.
Just before midnight, sungura maestro Tongai Moyo took to the stage with his trademark greeting, “Pakadii apo-o”.
He performed for six hours without showing any fatigue and the fans remained spellbound with others ululating in frenzy as Dhewa, as he is affectionately known, was doing what he knows best.
People were left in no doubt that the man still commands a lot of respect and following in the country as the beer garden was filled to the brim.
Bass guitarist Spencer played his guitar with the aplomb of a veteran, even Alick Macheso would have been impressed.
No wonder ecstatic fans could be seen throwing money to the talented guitarist in appreciation.
Dhewa, who was clad in white topped with leather jacket, put up a show that Bulawayo revellers will not forget in a long time to come.
He played songs from his old albums and new album, which he spiced up with his new dance – officer.
“Pinda Panyanga”, “Ndiro Yababa”, “Muchina Muhombe”, “Nemumvura Mese” were some of the songs that took fans down memory lane.
The smartly dressed Utakataka Express demonstrated that they are still a force to reckon with in both the fashion and music industries as they lived up to their billing and to the name of the beer garden – Ebunandini (Joy).
