much-anticipated and much-talked about British royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton later this month?
Well, there is no need to worry because BBC World channels will put in the front seat in your living room so you can join millions of people around the world to witness the two exchange matrimonial vows.
South African viewers can catch perhaps the biggest British royal wedding since Princess Diana wed Prince Charles in July 1981.
This royal wedding – on April 29 – will be screened on BBC Knowledge and locals can watch it on the small box, live from Westminster Abbey.
The wedding of the two has captured the imagination of millions of people around the world and had it not been for the uprisings in North Africa and other Muslim countries as well as the Japan catastrophe, they would be dominating the front pages.
The channel said the feed would be streamed live to the BBC Entertainment channel across Asia, India, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East and will be broadcast on BBC Knowledge in Africa to give viewers an opportunity to share the occasion with the royal family.
The couple, who are both 28, are said to have chosen Westminster Abbey in the spring as the venue for their big day.
The two have been dating for almost eight years and their big day is reportedly going to cost the British taxpayers a whopping R150 million.
Leading up to the big day, the channel will be broadcasting a host of royal documentaries.
The programming is likely to include a retrospective of royal weddings through the decades and a look at the House of Windsor.
Prince William and Middleton’s relationship will be put under the microscope with a programme that retraces major state occasions such as 2004’s D-Day 60th anniversary; the Pope’s visit, Trooping the Colour, the State Opening of Parliament, the Festival of Remembrance and the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics and Commonwealth Games. – Sowetan.
