DENVER Mukamba looks set to reunite with Rodwell Dhlakama.
Mukamba signed a one-year contract at the start of the just-ended campaign and it expires on December 31.
With Dynamos seemingly focusing on youth, as they plan for a return to the African Safari via the CAF Confederation Cup, Mukamba does not seem to be part of their plans.
And, this has given Green Fuel boss, Dhlakama, the man who revived Mukamba’s career, the freedom to bail him out for the third time.
Dhlakama is following Mukamba’s situation with keen interest.
He has welcomed the possibility of signing Mukamba for next season, where he is expected to make numerous additions to the squad which battled relegation for the better part of the campaign.
He told Zimpapers Sports he is ready to offer Mukamba a contract in Chisumbanje if Dynamos end their union with him.
“I will never turn down the chance to work with Denver, he makes coaching easy and I can’t wait to see how his situation ends.
“All I want is the best for him.
“If it means he stays with Dynamos, I’m okay with that, but if they decide to part ways, I’m going to be the first to get him.
“He still has a lot to offer and I’m trying to assemble a youthful team in which I feel he has a role to play in shaping the youngsters we are trying to bring on board because some things are better coached by experienced players,” said Dhlakama.
He added:
“It’s sad that most of the time we wait for bad things to happen to those who brought joy to this game before we can help.
“Denver is a living legend and having him in any team is a bonus to the youngsters because the reality we cannot escape is that they all dream of playing alongside a player of his calibre.
“I think he can still play four or five seasons at the top level, and I also want to convince him to start preparing for life after football.
“Not everyone will become a coach after football, and I feel that he can excel as a fitness trainer.”
Dhlakama rescued Mukamba during his time at Chapungu.
