CHIEDZA DHURURU delivered a match-winning half-century that powered Zimbabwe Women High Performance Centre (HPC) to a commanding 88-run victory over Cameroon, in their sixth match of the 2025 Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, on Tuesday(yesterday).

Dhururu’s composed innings anchored Zimbabwe Women HPC’s fourth win of the tournament, lifting them to eight points from a possible 12. Their only defeats so far have come against hosts Rwanda and regional rivals Uganda.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Zimbabwe Women HPC posted a formidable 163 for 6 in their 20 overs. Dhururu top-scored with 52 off 44 deliveries, while Nyasha Gwanzura contributed a valuable 45 from 33 balls, narrowly missing out on her own half-century.

The innings began on a shaky note when Christabel Chatonzwa was run out off the very first ball. However, a 44-run second-wicket partnership between Gwanzura and Tshuma helped stabilise the innings. Tshuma fell for 13, and Gwanzura was dismissed in the 11th over, leaving the team at 74 for 3 just past the halfway mark.

Additional contributions came from Nokutenda Makanhiwa (14), Salem Museka (2), and Dhururu, who was dismissed with just two balls remaining in the innings. Maeva Douma was the standout bowler for Cameroon, claiming 3 for 24 in three overs, while Edwige Guehoada picked up two wickets.

With the ball, Zimbabwe Women HPC were ruthless from the outset. Captain Nomvelo Sibanda produced a double-wicket maiden in the very first over, trapping Michele Ekani lbw for a duck and dismissing Madaleine Sissako for another.

In the following over, Passionate Munorwei bowled Bernadette Mbida for a golden duck, leaving Cameroon reeling at 0 for 3 in 1.1 overs. They never recovered and were restricted to 75 for 8 in their 20 overs.

Sibanda finished with figures of 2 for 15 from four overs, while Munorwei, Mavunga, Lindokuhle Mabhero and Gwanzura each chipped in with a wicket.

Zimbabwe Women HPC return to action today as they take on Sierra Leone in what promises to be another exciting contest.
