Zimbabwean lovers of soapie, Rhythm City, are set to witness one of their own on the South African production as actor, Munya Chidzonga is set to make an appearance in the soapiea��s forthcoming season which is in production.
Chidzonga, who rose to fame as a maverick contestant on the now canned reality show, Big Brother Africa, has steadily built a profile for himself as a prolific actor with roles both at home and around the continent.
It seems that South African audiences are now going to get a taste of Chidzongaa��s talents when he comes on the long running soapie, Rhythm City.
The move to Rhythm City will go a long way in improving Chidzongaa��s profile around the continent, as figures by the Broadcast Research Council of South Africa Ratings earlier in the year showed that the show has about three million viewers.
a�?Yes, indeed ita��s a great honour and we are happy to have him (Chidzonga) as part of our cast. He will be playing a character called Israel,a�? said the soapiea��s casting director and public relations manager Nolwazi Shange in confirming Chidzongaa��s new role.
Chidzonga also confirmed the new move, while staying clear of any information that might pre-empt the finer details about his new role in the soapie.
a�?I can only say we thank God and tichachimhanya (will do my best),a�? Chidzonga said.
The show is not the only small screen project that Chidzonga has in the works, after he revealed that he was also working on a project for the national broadcaster ZBC alongside director Joe Njagu.
The show called the Clapperboard sees Chidzonga dissecting some of the worlda��s biggest blockbusters alongside Njagu, as they give expert opinions to local movie buffs about whata��s hot in the cinemas. .
