ALL is set for the annual Chibuku Road to Fame national finals where 10 dance groups are set to fight it out for the first prize of $7 000 on 24 September at Hararea��s Glamis Arena.
Delta Beverages a�� through their Chibuku brand a�� in conjunction with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe are the organisers of the event.
The dance contest which has a second and third prize money of $500 and $300 respectively, will feature Kupenya Stars (Bulawayo), Murinye Express (Midlands), Sunrise Jazz Band (Manicaland), RJ Zvavapachena (Mashonaland Central) and Zondamthakathi (Matabeleland South).
Harare, Masvingo, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West and Matabeleland North will be represented by Adequate Sounds, Orchestra Mafarochete, African Roots, Jazz Crooners and Shatani Band respectively.
Chibuku brand manager Karen Dhliwayo said guest artistes that include famed trio of Bulawayoa��s Jeys Marabani, dance hall chanter Winky D , Jah Prayzah, king of sungura Alick Macheso, Romeo Gasa and reigning Chibuku Road to Fame champions Black Sight would also take to the stage and provide entertainment.
a�?We are ready to host this yeara��s finals after successfully hosting the provincial finals as from July. At the finals, there will be lots of entertainment. People should come in their numbers and enjoy,a�? said Dhliwayo.
After failing to make it during the 2014 edition of Chibuku Road to Fame competition, Mashonaland Central-based Afro Jazz outfit, Black Sight, upped their game to be capped final winners of the 2015 edition of the competition.
Black Sight pocketed $5 000 and secured a recording contract while Sungura outfits Adequate Sounds from Harare and Grade 2D from Mashonaland West walked away $4 000 and $3 000 richer.
The Chibuku Road to Fame is Zimbabwea��s largest grassroots talent identification programme run by Delta Beverages.
