LEADING Zimpapers commercial radio station, Diamond FM, on Tuesday launched its 10th anniversary celebrations, marking a decade of serving communities with news, entertainment, and informative programming.
The commemorations, themed: “Turn 4 Ten”, will be held on the 10th of every month throughout the year, featuring a variety of activities across Manicaland Province.
These will include community engagements, special broadcasts, and entertainment events, all designed to celebrate 10 years of broadcasting excellence.
The launch happened at the scenic Mutare View Point at Christmas Pass, where Diamond FM staff, listeners, and stakeholders gathered to celebrate.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza — represented by director of Provincial Coordination, Mr Joseph Mashingaidze commended the station’s role in the province.
“We are excited to see Diamond FM celebrating 10 years of delivering information to the people of Manicaland. Radio is a powerful tool for communication, and Diamond FM has proven to be an agent of dissemination. Beyond giving people a voice, the station has created employment opportunities, which is a very important achievement. We appreciate the role Diamond FM plays in sharing Government programmes, disaster preparedness, agriculture, and other key areas,” said Mr Mashingaidze.
Mr Mashingaidze said the station’s partnership with City of Mutare is also commendable in improving service delivery in Mutare.
“The partnership with councils such as City of Mutare has also enhanced service delivery. Residents are given an opportunity to air their voices to council, while council has also had platform to engage residents so that they find each other and move forward.” he said
He added: “Inclusivity is evident in the way the station engages with diverse communities, including people living with disabilities and those from different religious backgrounds. We look forward to continued collaboration that changes lives.”
Speaking during same event, City of Mutare spokesperson, Mr Charles Sadondo, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the station’s impact on service delivery
“Diamond FM has provided a vital platform for disseminating important information to residents and ratepayers. It has also given residents the opportunity to voice their concerns, while allowing council to respond, creating dialogue that helps the city move forward. We hope to continue working closely with Diamond FM.”
Diamond FM Station Manager, Mr Jabulani Mangezi, emphasised that the milestone reflects the station’s commitment to quality content and its role as a trusted voice in Manicaland and beyond.
“These celebrations are, not only about reflecting on our journey over the past decade, but also about appreciating our loyal listeners, partners, and stakeholders who have supported us since our establishment. We are grateful for their continued support. When we began, our transmission covered just 40km. Today, as we celebrate 10 years, our reach extends into Mashonaland East, Masvingo, and even neighbouring Mozambique. This growth has been possible because of our stakeholders. We are proud to complement Government’s efforts by bridging the gap between authorities and the public. During Cyclone Idai and other national events, Diamond FM played a crucial role in disseminating life-saving information and keeping communities informed.”
With its expanded reach and strong community ties, Diamond FM’s 10th anniversary celebrations promise to be a vibrant reflection of its decade-long journey as Manicaland’s voice of news, entertainment, and development.
