Diamonds Club happy with good season

“We take a break from the game to be with our families and plan ahead for next season happy with our 2011 performance. Obviously we had a couple of lessons drawn from the national and regional tournaments.
“Sweeping all provincial titles makes us undisputed Midlands volleyball ladies champions, something we have to defend next year.

“Above that, we will aim even higher to at least win the regional or national tournaments,” said Makuyana.
She said the club would reconvene in January and conduct trials for potential players to bolster the squad in an attempt to land national and regional titles.

“Having participated in two national tournaments, three regional tournaments and the provincial tournaments, our main weakness identified has been lack of depth and the only way would be to look for more players.
“We will be conducting trials in January and we have targeted a number of players some from schools and other clubs. We urge those with a passion for the game who have no clubs to also consider trying their luck.

“Our biggest challenge though has been lack of sponsorship but the fact that we survived 2011 means we have somewhere to fall on. We will rise to greatness if we are to secure financial support,” said Makuyana.
Diamonds were founded in 2000 and took the volleyball glamour in the province  away from Raylton Cats.
