Ngoma focuses on Champions League

Emerging with two goals from four appearances, Ngoma scored his second in the 2-1 win over hosts Tanzania and has dedicated his 2011 achievement to his five-month old son, Donald Junior.
“For me scoring on the Warriors debut is a great achievement and creates a foundation to build my career on.
“Naturally, with four national team caps earned and the two goals at the Cecafa, I obviously have to build on such a start and with the beckoning Caf Champions League I am now eyeing a couple of goals.

“I have scored goals in Division Two, First Division and my seven goals in the Premier Soccer League to add to those two (Cecafa goals) My next target is to score in the Caf Champions League,” said Ngoma.
He thanked national team coaches Norman Mapeza and Mkhuphali Masuku for giving him the necessary support in Tanzania and prayed for more caps.
Soon after jetting into the country on Saturday afternoon as part of the first batch of the Warriors squad that had been stranded in Tanzania for close to a week, Ngoma and his striking partner Charles Sibanda had to rush to Zvishavane for their club’s awards ceremony.

On his debut Premier Soccer League season, the striker said he was happy with first runners-up medal won.
“Winning a runners-up medal in a debut season is really something else a player can envy and playing for the Young Warriors and the senior team caps a fine year. It gives me the confidence to work even harder to consolidate the achievement.

“Even making it on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Soccer Stars of the Year calendar is something I dreamt of as I grew up and today it is a reality. I am happy my coaches have placed faith in me and I would like to pay tribute to the sponsors, management and club supporters.

“My other tribute goes to the late coach Benjamin Moyo,” said Ngoma.
He heaped praise on his team-mates and urged them not to be deterred after losing the ultimate top prize.

“There is always next time. We might have lost it   at the death of the season but we have now earned respect from the soccer family,” said Ngoma.
Ngoma became a household name last season,  two years after then coach Jairos Tapera plucked  him from the now defunct Super Dynamo in Beitbridge.

The player had unsuccessful stints at Chrome Stars where Tapera first caught sight of him.
