Zimbabweans in the Diaspora are hungry for local music, trailblazing urban grooves artistes Stunner and Ba Shupi, who are back from their tour of the United Kingdom (UK), have said.
The duo of the Godo fame, who touched down on Tuesday night said fans in the Diaspora wanted a feel of Zimbabwean music as it reminds them of home.
“The response was splendid and the people we met are hungry for our music. The Diaspora market is there; it’s only for us to tap into it,” said Ba Shupi.
He said the best place the duo played at was in Glasgow, Scotland, where more than 600 revellers turned up.
“The Two Sharks Tour had the best reception and attendance in Glasgow at a club called Calabash. The fans across UK want us back,” said Ba Shupi.
Stunner concurred saying the experience was different as he usually goes to the UK alone.
“The experience with Ba Shupi was epic since this was our first official performance together in the UK. We loved it as we got to sing and dance to each other’s songs much to the delight of the fans,” he said.
Stunner said of particular importance was the mixture of different African nationals who came out to support them. “The tour went well though it was cold and places were filled with a mixture of Zimbabweans and Nigerians who had come to see us and listen to Zimbabwean music,” he said.
